The history of the world-- the complete history of the world-- is little more than the history of war. I am disgusted that we put so much into having our way and pushing it onto all others-- across the board, around the table, throughout history, from the first day we killed somebody because they pissed us off until now-- and so little into getting along at the expense of our way in the service of the good of the whole. We are children fighting over toys in the sandbox for as long as we live. I do so hope that this is an anomaly, and that through the infinite expanse of the afterlife, there is nothing but congeniality and mutual concern for, and assistance with, helping one another find our life and live it as far as the eye can see. How can that be too much to ask? We are FAMILY!!!

This was the topic of conversation at dinner last night. This is certainly not a world for pacifists, or maybe we are just the wrong species. Right on.
I wish I had known you when you were here. Soon I would like to come to Charlotte and meet you.

I maintain my balance and harmony by reducing the noise and complexity in my life. When I retired I took an oath of silence and solitude, which limits my social encounters to visits to the Dr. and Dentist and hair stylist. All my conversations and interactions are with our three daughters, our sons-in-law and our five granddaughters. That’s been going on for eleven years not. It is pretty much a monastic life, with a regular order of the day and long stretches of silence and solitude. I felt bad about it for a while and decided to call up the Dali Lama and ask him how he does it. He wouldn’t take my call. I felt better instantly. I’m glad we can connect through WordPress (I have abandoned Twitter and Facebook because of too much noise and complexity, and DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!), and look forward to continuing to meet you here! — Jim

I understand completely. My interactions are extremely limited for similar reasons. I will continue to enjoy you here.

In my opinion, it would be delightful if we could learn how to communicate with one another without drama. Conflict resolution techniques, anger management and communication skills are teachable by example. Seems so simple.
In the 1990s I attended a class in Santa Barbara taught by Marshall Rosenberg on Non-violent conflict resolution techniques – here is a very good shorthand description of what the class taught: https://www.amazon.com/How-Talk-Kids-Will-Listen-ebook/dp/B005GG0MXI/ref=sr_1_4?crid=6UQ79HNKQJB1&keywords=how+to+talk+so+little+kids+will+listen&qid=1662410733&s=digital-text&sprefix=hOW+TO+tALK%2Cdigital-text%2C129&sr=1-4
Earlier in my life, when I was trying to learn how to “talk to my inner critic”, this was one of the books recommended to me, believe it or not: https://www.amazon.com/How-Talk-Kids-Will-Listen-ebook/dp/B005GG0MXI/ref=sr_1_4?crid=6UQ79HNKQJB1&keywords=how+to+talk+so+little+kids+will+listen&qid=1662410733&s=digital-text&sprefix=hOW+TO+tALK%2Cdigital-text%2C129&sr=1-4

This is a wonderful and concise description of a process that would change the world! This along with Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and all would be the way it needs to be!

Yes, I agree! Between Kabat-Zinn’s techniques and Marshall Rosenberg’s Jackal and Giraffe trainings, a new world opens for a person.
