Balance, harmony, stability, reliability… These boulders are going to be there for a while, but permanence is out of the question for anything ever. So, we embrace the permanence of impermanence as the only thing that is guaranteed to be forever, and go on with our life. Going on with our life is one of the things I like most about us. Dancing with the day, day after day is what we do best. And I cherish that as our finest attribute. Just look at all we have been through as a species! And we are still getting up to face the day! Good for you! Good for me! Let’s go see what we can do with it!

I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
