Crater Lake Sunrise — Crater Lake National Park, Mazma Village Oregon

“I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father but by me.” And, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Jesus was a bit of an Egotist and maybe a tad psychotic. But he made enough of an impact on people that some of them had visions of him after he was “crucified, dead and buried.” And they told everyone else they had to believe them or go to hell. If Donald Trump can have rabid followers, anyone can. Where are you going to go to find something you can count on? I suggest the emptiness, stillness and silence, waiting for the mud to settle and the water to clear, and see where it goes. You will be safe as long as you maintain your sense of humor, and don’t take anything with more seriousness than it deserves.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
