The Relic 03

Photographic scenes can be anywhere, but they are not everywhere. So, we walk around with a camera hoping to stumble upon something that catches our eye before we age out of being interested in doing that. “Time and chance happen to us all” (Ecclesiastes 9:11). And we have to be able to flow with the currents of time and chance in order to let go what’s going and to let come what’s coming, with little in the way of expectations and opinions, wants and desires, in order that here, now is good enough just as it is.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
