What's it going to take
for us to make peace with our life?

To square up with how things are
and what that means for us here and now
in each situation as it arises?

Our parents are our parents,
our point of origin is our point of origin,
our choices have been our choices,
our options have been our options,
what has happened to us is what has happened to us,
what has failed to happen to us has failed to happen to us,
what we have done about it all
is what we have done about it all,
and here we are--now what?

All that has happened has prepared us
as well as we can expect to be prepared
for what will happen to us.

What do we need to be better prepared
to face what is likely
and what is possible?

What do we need to do to resource ourselves,
equip ourselves,
for dealing appropriately
with a future that is unfolding
situation-by-situation as we watch?

What would be helpful?
What can we do to avail ourselves
of the help we need?

What can we do to assist ourselves
in finding/having what we need
to do what needs to be done,
situation by situation?

What would it take for us to be able
to square ourselves up with all of this
in a "This is the way things are,
and this is what we can do about it,
even now, even so, even yet," kind of way?

If you are a subscriber and get the photo associated with each blog entry but not the text, it is because there is a hitch in the code that causes text to appear as white on a white background. Until that is corrected, the work-a-round, suggested by sandync 28704, is to click on the date of the blog above the photograph and that should link you directly to the blog.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

  2. Validation/confirmation/affirmation is a feature of a reliable path being followed on the strength of our internal guidance system. We know when we are on the beam when we meet ourselves talking to us from some non-self source, another person, the writings of people long dead, a song, a painting/photograph, etc. It’s a part of the dance with wonder and synchronicity, amazement and awe… Leaving us with only “Wow!” Again.
