Road to Botany Bay 12/04/2014 Oil Paint Rendered — Botany Bay Historical Preserve, Edisto Island, South Csrolina
In the natural world,
a lot of time is spent waiting
for the time for acting
to come around again.

In the artificial world,
there is no time for waiting--
there is nothing but action,
in a "Don't just stand there!
DO something!" kind of way.

In the artificial world
of normal, apparent, reality,
we act out-of-time
all of the time,
doing things that do not need to be done,
whether they need to be done or not,
because we need to be doing something
constantly.

If we aren't doing something,
we are talking about something
we have done,
or something we are going to do.
We don't do anything
we can't talk about having done.

The artificial world is action oriented.
Doing is The Thing.
If we aren't doing,
we are wasting time,
and prove our value
by the amount we get done in a day.

Looking out the window
doesn't count.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
