Money is a tool
for making/buying the tools we need
to do what is ours to do
in in serving/expressing
our original nature
and our innate virtues/specialties
in doing what needs to be done
in each situation as it rises.

But who understands our mission
in these terms?

We use money to pass a good time,
to let the good times roll,
to take our mind off our life
and escape the burden
of each situation as it arises.

Money is our primary means
of soothing our pain
and easing our mind
in the service
of diversion,
distraction
and denial.

How do we get
from the way things are
to the way things need to be?
And, who is interested
in making the trip?

These are the questions
diverting the flow of life
into the eddy comprising
the wasteland of our discontent,
preventing us from exploring/exhibiting
our strengths
in the work
of being who we are,
doing what is ours to do.

Maybe later.
Maybe some other time.
Perhaps some day soon.
When we are in the mood,
and have nothing better to do...

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
