We've been going at this long enough
that we should be better at it
by now.

I recommend that we start tomorrow at 6:00 AM
experiencing our experiences.
If my calculations are correct,
that will make a real difference
in the way we live our life.

More reflection on our experience
will result in a greater degree
of realization.
And that will change everything.

Experiencing our experience
means experiencing our reaction
to our experience
on emotional and physical levels.

I'm betting that our emotional response
calls forth our physical response,
and that as we insert our experiencing
our experience into the situation,
we will be curious about examining
the exact cause, degree and direction
of our emotional reactivity
and our physical response
by wondering where that comes from,
how we learned to react the way we react
and how we might react instead.

That will give us something else to think about,
and divert the quality and kind
of physical response,
which, in itself, will alter our response pattern,
and create new possibilities
for living our life.

By 12:01 PM,
we will have been experiencing our experience
for six hours and one minute,
and that should be enough of a difference
for the world to begin shifting on its axis,
and for gravity to start trying to figure out
what is going on.

Whenever gravity gets involved,
you better hold onto your chair,
because nobody knows where that will lead.
Could be quite the thing.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
