Finding our way to The Way one situation at a time. I don't know how great it will be, but I expect it will be interesting, and I look forward to it going on past all reason because wonder is just that way. Are you coming or not?
It doesn't matter what you want.
It isn't about getting what you want
and having your way.
It is about growing up
and doing what needs to be done
whether you want to or not.
It is about doing what you know
you must do.
It is about making every sacrifice
to do what you know has to be done
because it is an inner drive
to go and do that will not go away.
"I have no choice in the matter, Gibbs.
It's the pirate's life for me.
Savvy?" (Captain Jack Sparrow).
What do you have "no choice in the matter"
Sit with the question
if you cannot answer it instantly.
See if you can remember the time
you knew the answer
before the adults in your life
robbed you of your life
with ridicule and laughter.
Get your life back.
I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing.
I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
