Carl Jung said,
"We are who we have always been,
and who we will be."

Are you aware of the thread
running through your life?
The You who "was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be"?

You, and I, and all the others,
are eternal, everlastng.
No one has ever been who we are,
or ever will be.

We are unique among the heavens.

You might think that would sit us down
more often.
Give us pause.
Elicit wow's and tears in homage
and thanksgiving.

I don't know why it doesn't work that way.
I chalk it up to bad parenting
and bad preaching
all the way back to the first parents
and the first preacher.

We deserve better,
given the priceless nature
of our being and character.

There is what we do to pay the bills,
and there is what we pay the bills to do.

What do you pay the bills to do?

What do you live to do?

What are the most meaningful things in your life?

How often do you do them?

The lives of most of the world's population
revolve around
sex,
drugs,
alcohol
and money.

That's all they spend their time thinking about,
and doing when they can.

There is nothing meaningful
about the way they live.
It's all escape and denial for them.
Living is hell.
Boring as hell.

They pay their bills,
as they are able,
to escape from and deny
the weight of the experience
of being alive.

Don't be like them.

Your life is a gift.
Open it.
Relish it.
Dance with it,
laughing all the way.

The only thing that is stopping you
is your perspective.

Turn the light around,
and dance.

If your life is meaningless and boring,
start doing what you are interested in.
Open yourself to the things that catch your eye,
that attract you from across the street,
or from across the country.

Get out of the routine of dismissing
the things that call your name.
Move toward them!

Libraries are free--go read about them.

YouTube has a slew of videos on every subject
that ever was or will be a subject.
Immerse yourself in the things you think
you might like.

As you move toward what you love--
or what you just think you might love--
what you love will start moving toward you,
and inserting itself in your life
in magical, mysterious, ways.

And you will have taken yourself out of
an empty, meaningless, boring existence
and inserted yourself in the wonder
of being alive,
just by going to the library,
and watched some videos.

Live to love your life!
Why hold yourself back from loving your life?

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
