No expectations.
No agendas.
No opinions.

These are the Three Adjustments
enabling us to just see
what the circumstances call for--
to just see what needs to be done--
in each situation as it arises
and do it
when, where and how it needs to be done,
with the virtues that are ours from birth
(Te Power, Virtue Power)
in each situation as it arises,
for the joy of doing it
and the satisfaction of having done it,
one situation at a time
all our life long.

Expectations,
agendas,
opinions,
create noise
and imbalance
that prevent us
from being present
with what is happening
in a "Just So" kind of way,
like infants approach their world,
seeing/doing
spontaneously,
from the heart,
without thinking,
calculating,
scheming,
conning,
striving,
forcing
our way onto the circumstances,
all circumstances,
all of the time.

"Unless you turn and become like children,
you will never see the kingdom of truth
spread out over the world,
much less be servants of it
for the good of humankind,"
said Jesus (Or words to that effect).

He was talking about:
No expectations,
No agendas,
No opinions.

Just seeing what needs to be done
and doing it.
Like a child with nothing to gain
and nothing to lose.
Just being helpful,
because it is necessary.
In each situation as it arises.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
