Uncarved Blocks and Mystery Orbs representing Psyche and Tao

This is my home sanctum looking toward my Wailing Wall replica. My office is a memento of me with my prayer beads, my books, my photographs, my rocking chairs and, of course, two windows to look out. This is my retreat, my hangout, my get-a-way, my sanctuary, my creation, and is just like me, who I am.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

  1. I don’t use them at all they were a child’s rosary and could be a necklace with a small wooden cross attached. It belonged to my niece who was killed in a car crash with her Mom and Dad and their dog, Piper, on their way home after having Christmas with us in the early 80’s. My wife and I were responsible for winding up their estate and I claimed her beads as an ever-present connection to her and her family. My way of being with them through time, and my way of grounding myself in the truth of how things are, here, now, day after day.
