Moonshine

I had a piece of lemon ice box pie and a cup of coffee Saturday at our weekly family lunch out with the daughters and granddaughters. The pie and the coffee is what I had for lunch. My new Saturday lunch. I intend for it to be a regular thing. It is my way out of here–doing what I love. I hope I have years to go, with a Saturday lunch every week. Celebrating weekly. I’ll ask how many pieces to a pie, probably six. We will see how many pies I have left. I see that as the way to do it. Sounds just like me.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

  1. Jim. You are so precious. I am sorry Judy doesn’t make pies for you. At least you can count on pie once a week and have something to look forward to. I make chocolate pies for George. They are his favorite.  But I had Katheryne and Diane to show me the way…
