Sunset Through The Trees — Indian Land, South Carolina
Do you have enough
of the right kinds of things
in your life?

And not too much
of the wrong kinds of things?

How do you arrange for that?
Maintain it?

I find that Focusing
in Ann Weiser Cornell's kind of way
helps me with the balance and harmony.

Listening to my body/mind (intuition)
knowing when enough is enough,
and allowing my guides to guide me
without trying to force balance into place
(As if!)
and "going with the flow" of the here/now
in each situation as it arises
makes all the difference.

Allowing things to happen
according to their need of the moment,
and dancing with what each day brings
works as well as anything I know.

This helps with knowing what it is time for
here/now,
moment by moment,
situation by situation--
always with enough emptiness/stillness/silence
for reflection/realization/readjustment
all along the way.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

  1. I wonder at what point our human minds/ brains turned into devices that complicate the most simple and obvious things. Isn’t it a big puzzle- we are supposedly the most intelligent species on this planet and look what we are doing with our’s and each other’s lives…why do most of us not ‘get’ it and see the obvious?
Thank you for you constant reminders. Every drop counts…if we one day hope to change the taste of the ocean.
