Finding our way to The Way one situation at a time. I don't know how great it will be, but I expect it will be interesting, and I look forward to it going on past all reason because wonder is just that way. Are you coming or not?

Opening ourselves to Psyche and Intuition, and to the possibility/likelihood that they are the same thing, would be a project worthy of the rest of our life. It would make us all aspects of the same thing, which would make us all one thing, one psychic thing. And getting to know each other would be getting to know ourselves as extensions of one another. Which would make going to war even more incredibly stupid than it appears to be–and would call us all to sit down, shut up, open our eyes and see who we are and what we are doing, and consider what we might be doing instead. No?
I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing.
I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

First of all, such an exquisite photo!
Second, you wonder what else we might do to avoid war? In the 1990’s, I discovered Marshall Rosenberg’s teachings of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). I lived in Los Angeles and was able drive up to Santa Barbara, where he used to occasionally teach a class of his ideas at a local college. He used puppets of a jackal and a giraffe to demonstrate his teachings of NVC. I also found a study circle in Los Angeles to practice his teachings.
Here is an interview with him from 2003 where he discusses retributive justice versus restorative justice (such as fresh, new way for me to think about how we can deal with the need for justice):
Thanks for your reply and for the link. I am now a subscriber to the SUN, and looking forward to long, healthy and happy relationship with the publication.
