Finding our way to The Way one situation at a time. I don't know how great it will be, but I expect it will be interesting, and I look forward to it going on past all reason because wonder is just that way. Are you coming or not?

Jesus was a rogue prophet
in a straight-laced world.
All prophets are.
They are not fit for the culture
they are born into,
and rather than adjust themselves
to the culture,
their task is to adjust the culture
to the truth of what's what.
We are always missing the point,
or missing something about the point,
and have to be corrected by those
who see what we are missing.
Happens to me all the time.
I say, "Thank you for pointing that out to me,"
and make the adjustments necessary
to see to it that I don't miss that again.
We all have to correct the culture
we are born into,
the culture that we live in.
The entire culture is off track,
and only individuals can live it
back on track,
by living themselves on track,
one situation as a time.
And by taking correction
when they need to be corrected,
with appreciation and gratitude
to those who point out what we are missing.
I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing.
I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
