Moonrise, Nags Head — Outer Banks, North Carolina
I can't wait to be really old,
things are getting more interesting
by the day.

The post previous to this one
is listed as "April 31, 2024."
As though there are 31 days in April.
Made perfect sense to me.
Yesterday.

The more Right-brained I get,
the less Left-brained I become,
and living Right-brained
in a Left-brain world
is no way to get around.

So, I'm back to having to pay attention,
yet the Left-brained world is so boring!
If you don't see the problem,
just keep breathing.
And think of growing old
as becoming increasingly Right-brained.
Even against our will.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.

  1. Right brain knows the edge of a cliff, when to drink water, when to shelter from the storm. It just doesn’t know dates, fictitious things, very inconvenient.

  2. I hardly even notice the dates in your titles…poor mindfulness but I usually dive straight into the contents of your posts, so had not even noticed! But seems very ‘doable’ mistake. I often need to remind myself too, with April and February- towards the end of the month- of how many days they really have…and this is not due to old age, I just could never remember even when young…they did not seem important enough 🙂
So do not worry, if you slip in a wrong date occasionally…it doesn’t affect the “real” time or date in any way!
