Reading the situation as it arises
without our own wants and desires,
fear and anxiety
getting in the way,
and responding appropriately
to the occasion,
time after time,
is all there is to it.
That's all Jesus and the Buddha, etc.
ever did.
Reduced to its essence,
we get: See-Do.
Expanded a bit it becomes:
Listen/Hear, Look/See, Know/Realize, Do.
Drawing lines are appropriate to all occasions,
and our needs carry equal weight
to those of the situation.
We make a judgment call as to who gets what/now
and who gets what/then,
working to be balanced over time.
Drawing appropriate lines
would solve most of the problems
that exist worldwide.
I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing.
I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
