Something happens
and we respond to it
in each situation as it arises.

No matter what happens,
everything hinges upon
the quality of our response.

The best responses
are grounded in
integrity,
sincerity
and spontaneity--
in sync with our original/essential nature
and our innate virtue/character,
both of which are ours from conception
(And from the conception of our parents,
and of their parents...
all the way back to Lucy in Africa,
the mother of us all).

Our responses come out of who we are,
and who we are capable of being.
The more conscious we are
of all of this,
the more likely our responses
will be ideally suited to our circumstances
in the situation which brings them forth.

Waking up to the truth of our nature
and our character
provides us with a platform,
an anchor-rock,
from which to meet life as it comes to us,
every day.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
