Finding our way to The Way one situation at a time. I don't know how great it will be, but I expect it will be interesting, and I look forward to it going on past all reason because wonder is just that way. Are you coming or not?

I am officially old.
I cry at everything these days.
The Webb Telescope being a case in point.
But also, Joe Manchin for blocking
a better life for millions of people.
It's a long list.
And I'm an old man crying
over everything on it.
Flash mob concerts.
Animals being reunited
with former owners.
Wonderful and terrible,
it's all the same.
Here come the tears.
If there is a theme playing through all of it
it would be
"We just don't know what's what!"
"We just don't take it to heart!"
"It's wasted on us--on too many of us!"
"We just don't get it!"
And walk on by, unseeing, uncrying.
I'm crying because
not enough people are crying.
Everybody ought to be crying.
All the time.
I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing.
I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters and five granddaughters within about twenty minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
