When I think about what we have done
and are doing
to make things worse instead of better,
I have to stop thinking.

Left alone, nature does a fabulous job
of taking care of nature.

Our idea of better is always More Money!

We can make More Money if we do this,
and that,
and that,
and that...

Native Americans got along just fine
for 8,000 years
and then somebody's idea of making More Money
got in the way.
And is still getting in the way.

And what do we do with all that money
that makes it worth all the damage we do
to get it?

Don't go there.
It will only depress you.

And you will have to go sit with nature,
and walk slowly through it,
to get over your depression.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
