Joshua Trees — Red Rock Canyon, Nevada

If we only knew what to do, when, where and how! We would have no anxiety, fear, uncertainty, anguish or despair. It would be a simple matter of doing what needs to be done, when, where and how, and letting that be that. Of course, we would have to be grown up about it, and that’s the kink in the hose. Having to do what we don’t want to do is the source of all of our problems today every day. It is not knowing! It is not wanting! That we need to do something about, and we don’t want to. So, we go bucking and snorting all along life’s way.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
