Lake Francis Mirror 01 11/01/2018 — Anne Springs Close Greenway, Fort Mill, South Carolina
Authenticity is spontaneous,
unintentional,
automatic,
from the heart,
"as one thus come,"
like a baby pooping in the bath tub,
or a cat playing with a ball.

Live not-thinking,
just responding to the here, now,
doing what is called for
unconscious of anything
other than doing what is called for.

Be what is needed in the moment,
at one with the moment,
moment after moment,
unaware of anything beyond the moment.

Like stopping on red
and going on green.

Live to not-know what you are doing,
and to not-grade yourself
on how well you are doing that.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
