Zen is what happened
when Buddhism met Taoism.

It should be called "Zen Taoism"
in that it has much more in common
with Taoism than it does with Buddhism.

The differences between Buddhism and Zen
can be summed up in this way:

The heart of Buddhism is expressed/revealed
by the book "The Indestructible Truth,"
by Reginald Ray.
If you want to know Buddhism,
read the book.

The heart of Zen is expressed/revealed
by our intrinsic intuition.
If you want to know Zen,
follow the truth of your own heart-knowing.

I'm thinking you won't make it
through the first chapter of the book.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
