It settles down
after a while
to just meeting the day
on the day's terms.

To nothing being more important
that doing what needs to be done,
when it needs to be done,
where it needs to be done,
how it needs to be done,
as long as it needs to be done.

No more ambition, incentive, aspiration,
is required than that.

Being natural,
living naturally,
from the heart
with our heart in
everything we do.

Just being ourselves,
allowing everything to arise "of itself."
Spontaneously following the impulse
of our soul/spirit/psyche
in/through each situation as it develops.

"Eating when hungry,
resting when tired,"
doing the day's work
each day,
and letting that be that.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
