We live in the service of what?
Money is the thing of highest value we can imagine.
And the high rate of addiction
and suicide among the wealthy
suggests that money may not be it.
And to miss the point of our life--
living in the service of the wrong things--
is the worst kind of hell
forever.

No do-overs.

The wise among us
spend their life finding out.

The Search for the Holy Grail
is the search for what we are here for.
What is the source of vitality, exuberance, bliss?

It is not drugs/sex/alcohol/shopping/partying or money.

The spiritual quest comes down to
finding what it is
that is life itself for us.

What have you ruled out?

What do you think it might be?

What are you doing to know?

Here's my best hint:

Attend your nighttime dreams.

And your pile of rejects.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
