There is the way things are,
and the way things need to be,
and the ways things are said ought to be.
and the way we want things to be,

If we can apprehend the way things are
and live in service to the way things need to be,
dismissing the way things are said to be
and the way we want things to be,
we will be doing what needs to be done
when/where/and how it needs to be done
in each situation as it arises
all our life long.

No more can be asked of us than that.

However, the worldwide trend
is to what is said ought to be
when it coincides
with how we want things to be--
discounting,
dismissing,
denying,
ignoring
the way things are
and the way things need to be
to our own detriment
and that of everyone/everything else
no matter what
forever.

Until things become what they need to be,
it's going to be like bathing hogs
in the barnyard
with a short hose
for the rest of time.

I'm retired, and still finding my way--but now, I don't have to pretend that I know what I'm doing. I retired after 40.5 years as a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving churches in Louisiana, Mississippi and North Carolina. I graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, in Austin, Texas, and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. My wife, Judy, and I have three daughters, five granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and a great grandson on the way, within about ten minutes from where we live--and are enjoying our retirement as much as we have ever enjoyed anything.
